Maya CARE: A Journey of Empowerment and Inclusion
“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” – Nelson Mandela

In 2009, two visionaries, Manjiri Gokhale Joshi and Abhay Joshi, planted a seed of change. Their dream? To create a world where elderly individuals receive the care they deserve and people with disabilities find opportunities to lead, thrive, and inspire. This dream became Maya CARE Foundation.

A Vision Rooted in Compassion
Maya CARE was not built on wealth but on an unwavering commitment to serve. For 11 years, its founders funded the initiative from their personal income. Despite financial challenges, they remained steadfast in their belief that inclusion and dignity should be a right, not a privilege. Today, Maya CARE stands as a beacon of hope, proving that persistence and purpose can turn dreams into reality.

Led by Those Who Inspire
What makes Maya CARE unique is its leadership. The foundation is led by individuals with disabilities, showcasing that barriers are meant to be broken. These leaders redefine resilience, proving that ability is not measured by physical limitations but by determination and skill.

Project Bindu: Reimagining Possibilities
At the heart of Maya CARE’s mission is Project Bindu. Instead of defining individuals by their disabilities, Maya CARE embraces their strengths, empowering them through training, employment, and leadership opportunities. Through this initiative:

  • Elderly individuals, whether at home or in care facilities, receive free assistance from dedicated volunteers.
  • Persons with disabilities are provided meaningful employment, allowing them to take charge of their lives and careers.
  • Professional training equips individuals with skills to excel in administrative and leadership roles, fostering economic independence.

Sustainable Impact through Business Solutions
Maya CARE doesn’t just stop at charity—it builds sustainability. The foundation’s Business Process Management (BPM) Unit enables individuals with disabilities to work in backend business operations, partnering with corporate companies. This initiative not only creates employment but also generates revenue, ensuring long-term sustainability for the foundation.

A Growing Legacy
From a humble beginning, Maya CARE now operates in 72 cities in India, five cities in the UK, and Kathmandu, Nepal. With 4,000+ volunteers network across India, UK and Nepal, has conducted over 33,000 free visits to elderly individuals, the foundation is touching lives every day.

The impact is undeniable—stories of elderly individuals finding companionship, persons with disabilities finding purpose, and communities coming together to uplift one another.

The Future of Change
Maya CARE is not just an organization; it is a movement. A movement that believes in the potential of every individual, regardless of age or ability. And this is just the beginning.

In our upcoming blogs, we will share the success stories of Project Bindu leaders and testimonials from elderly individuals whose lives have been transformed.

Join us in making a difference. Together, we can build a more inclusive and compassionate world.
