Project Bindu is a need-driven innovation by Maya CARE that transforms people with disabilities (PWDs) who have never worked, or do not have skills, into responsible, financially independent professionals with leadership aspirations. Project Bindu recruits PWDS from across remote locations in India where there are no job opportunities and guides them through an intense training and mentoring program including classroom and on-the-job paid training resulting in making them employable by Maya CARE or other employers. The outcome of the program is that PWDs can earn their livelihood and can lead a life of dignity in society. Within Maya CARE, persons with disabilities are called “Bindu”. In Sanskrit, Bindu means focus. Today, Maya CARE is acclaimed as the world’s only organization offering free services(logistical, emotional, and intellectual) to the elderly with a presence in 72 Indian cities, 5 cities in the United Kingdom, and supporters’ groups across the world propelled by a leadership team and 90% paid work by PWDs. To date we have transformed the lives of more than 1200 persons with disabilities and 120 are actively working with us as of now out of them 30 identified critical talent. In project Bindu, we are working in three teams ????Data team - People who cannot hear/speak and work on email/data. ????Voice team - People who cannot see but can speak on the phone. ????Power team - People who can speak and see but have other challenges like cerebral palsy, polio, loss of a limb, etc. Our Vision. To offer free services to the elderly in every city of India and the world with a helpline in every spoken language powered by a leadership team and support staff comprising PwDs (Persons with disabilities).
